Nothing beats a peak for that rewarding feeling of
having got all the
way to the top and having a 360° view. !!In the immediate area there are the Pic du Roussillon 1314m, Croix de Marquixanes 1315m, Pic de Toulouse 1339m Pic de la Rouquette 1289m. Most are them are off the beaten track and take a certain amount of determination, which only makes them all the more rewarding! Slightly farther afield (45 min to 1-1/2 hrs) drive are the equally rewarding and more frequented peaks: Canigou 2784m, Madre 2469m, Pic Carlit 2921m, Pic de Bugarach 1230m. |

Hoopoe as well as Griffon Vulture, Goshawk, Bee Eater, Nightingale,
Wood chat Strike and many more! If you're really lucky you might see the rarely spotted Capercaillie, Egyptian Vulture or Lammergayer Butterfly enthusiasts have spotted the following: Swallowtail, Great Banded Grayling, Cleopatra, Adonis Blue, Chalkhill Blue. |
